In the past, Battlefield games have allowed a one-time player name selection upon registration.
With EA’s new Origin service, it’s likely that your Origin profile name will be used in-game – similar to many Steam games.
You can download the Origin beta now to create your profile. Origin names are limited to letters and numbers (no special characters), so it’s all the better to create your profile right away, lest you be stuck with a Battlefield 3 account named “Sniper48531705.” Even if we get to select different BF3 names, who wants to be stuck with that for an Origin profile?
